ANS -- Great news in the fight against Citizens United.

Great news in the fight against Citizens United.

On Thursday, the California legislature went on record supporting a constitutional amendment to overturn the horrible Citizens United Supreme Court decision.

This makes California the sixth state in the nation to do so, and the passage of this resolution will give a huge boost to similar efforts that are happening in other states.

There is momentum on our side, and CREDO activists like you were a big part of this fight.

We set out to show legislators that their constituents are part of a broad movement demanding action--not only to convinced them that overturning Citizens United is the right thing to do, but also that it's possible.

We succeeded. The California legislature got our message loud and clear.

One of the bill's authors, Assemblyman Bob Wieckowski, specifically noted the 50,000 Californians who wrote to the legislature in support of this resolution--over 30,000 of whom were CREDO Action members.

Of course, we did not win this alone. This fight was only won because of a large statewide coalition including Public Citizen, CalPIRG, Common Cause, California Church IMPACT, Free Speech for People, California Labor Federation, California League of Conservation Voters and many other organizations.

CREDO is committed to fighting in every way to overturn Citizens United, get public financing of elections and ending corporate personhood. This is not the end of the fight, but it's a good first step.

Thank you for taking action. Your activism matters.
