Everyone in Finland, including a visiting foreigner, has an ancient individual right that does not exist in the United States: the freedom to roam on anyone's land.
You have the right to hike, ski or cycle on anyone's land (excluding agricultural fields, gardens and the immediate vicinity of dwellings) as long as you do not disturb the landowner or damage the land. You can also pick berries and mushrooms and camp temporarily.
